Bodrum
Among the walls and courtyards of Bodrum Kalesi, traces of different eras come to life; the Museum of Underwater Archaeology adds the story of the Aegean. Afterwards, a stroll by the harbour makes a lovely finish.
Konacık
Follow the paths through the wooded hills and discover ancient walls, tombs and remains of the Lelegian settlement at Pedasa. Together, you can explore at your own pace and enjoy views across the peninsula along the way.
Karaada
A boat trip takes you from Bodrum to Karaada, passing coastlines and coves. There, the rocky shore and clear water invite you to stop for a swim; sharing the deck makes the journey part of the experience.
Bitez
Bitez Bay is well suited to windsurfing and kitesurfing. If you’re both in the mood for something active, you can head out on the water, feel the wind and then take your time on shore, chatting about how it went.
Yalıkavak
At the windmills above Yalıkavak, the view opens out across the coast and the peninsula’s many coves. Take your time on the walk up together and watch the light change on the water.
Our pick for adults
Gümüşlük
In Gümüşlük, take a seat by the water at one of the restaurants along the bay and round off the evening with fish and seafood. As the sun sets, the meal becomes a relaxed moment for two.
Bodrum lies on a peninsula in south-western Turkey, where the Aegean Sea meets a coastline of whitewashed houses, bougainvillea and pine-covered hills. If you want to travel without children making noise by the pool, without entertainment programmes and without the crush at breakfast, you’re in the right place. In our Adults Oasis directory, you’ll currently find a curated selection of adults-only hotels in the Bodrum region: peaceful, child-free properties for couples and anyone who sees their holiday as a chance to relax, not a race for the last available sun lounger.
Bodrum has two faces, and both suit a peaceful holiday for two. The town itself revolves around the marina, St Peter’s Castle and narrow lanes lined with restaurants. The surrounding peninsula consists of small bays and villages such as Türkbükü, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük and Bitez, where things are noticeably more relaxed. The locations of the adults-only hotels vary; check the immediate surroundings of each property.
An adults-only holiday is made easier by the short journey. Bodrum-Milas Airport (BJV) lies around 35 kilometres away, and the transfer to the coastal resorts takes around 45 to 75 minutes, depending on where you’re staying. Depending on the season, direct flights may be available; you should check current flight schedules before booking so that you arrive on the Aegean without changing flights.
The Turkish hammam is not a marketing term here but part of the culture. Which wellness facilities are available depends on each property and should be checked before booking. You should check the specific pool and spa facilities with the property in question. That’s precisely what makes the difference: you can relax without someone jumping into the pool next door.
Bodrum provides the setting without you having to look for it. Watching the sunset over Gümüşlük from a restaurant with your feet almost in the water is a classic. Then there are private stretches of beach, rooftop terraces above the marina and quiet coves accessible only by boat. In a child-free hotel, dinner remains dinner for two, not the end of a long bout of family logistics.
Aegean cuisine is lighter than what many people know from Turkish restaurants back home. The focus is on meze, meaning small hot and cold appetisers: aubergines, beans, yoghurt with herbs, plus fresh fish from the day’s catch. In Gümüşlük, you can sometimes buy the fish directly from the fishmonger and have it prepared at the restaurant. Rakı, the anise-flavoured spirit that is diluted and sipped slowly, is part of the meal. The village markets, such as the weekly market in Türkbükü, are a good reason to leave the hotel now and then.
Anyone who doesn’t want to spend all day by the pool has options. A boat trip along the bays is the most relaxing: drop anchor, swim and sail on. The Greek island of Kos can be reached by ferry in about an hour, making it an easy day trip to another EU country. On land, the sheltered bays invite you to snorkel and go stand-up paddleboarding, while Yalıkavak, with its large yacht marina, is more the peninsula’s glossy showcase. Culturally, the ancient Mausoleum of Halicarnassus is worth a visit, one of the former Seven Wonders of the World, right in the town.
The most pleasant weeks are in late spring and early autumn. May, June and September offer warm water, long days and temperatures that make it pleasant to be out during the day too, without the high-summer crowds filling the resorts. July and August are hot and busier, but the sea is at its warmest. If you like things really quiet, come in October, when the season is winding down but the water is still warm enough for swimming. Winter is mild, although many adults-only properties are closed then.
Our listed properties for the region show you what adults-only means here in practice: a focus on adult guests. Adults Oasis brings these hotels together in one place, so you don’t have to search every booking platform individually for its child-free policy. Compare location, facilities and spa, and book the property that matches your idea of tranquillity on the Aegean.
