Adults-only hotels in Mallorca: coast, mountains and time together

Adults-only hotels in Mallorca are ideal if you want to divide your holiday between the sea, culture, scenery and time together. The Balearic island offers a variety of settings for this: Palma with its old town and harbour, long sandy beaches in the south, small coves on the east coast, the Tramuntana mountains in the north-west and rural villages inland. An adults-only hotel provides a setting where you can plan your day without children’s activities and enjoy your stay as a couple or as a trip with other adults.

Landscapes between the coast and the Serra de Tramuntana

Mallorca is a wonderfully varied island. In the west, the Serra de Tramuntana stretches along the coast; winding roads, stone houses, terraced fields and mountain villages characterise this region. Places such as Sóller, Deià and Valldemossa lie in surroundings that are ideal for walks, hikes and views across the Mediterranean. To the north, the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia open out, while the east coast is characterised by smaller beaches, rocky coves and harbour towns.

In the south and around Palma, you will find flatter landscapes, beaches and a convenient combination of a coastal holiday and a city visit. Campos lies inland near the south coast, in an area shaped by agriculture, while Sineu is in the centre of Mallorca. If you enjoy combining different experiences, you can start the morning by the sea, stroll through an old town in the afternoon and spend the evening in a restaurant serving Mallorcan cuisine.

Palma, harbour towns and villages inland

Palma is ideal for adults who want to combine culture and the sea. In the old town, you can discover narrow lanes, courtyards, historic buildings and squares with cafés. Promenades and beaches line the bay; from there, it is easy to combine the capital with other coastal towns. Can Pastilla, Illetes and Playa de Palma offer a maritime setting with the water just a short walk away.

In the north, Port de Pollença and Alcúdia invite you to spend days by the bay. Cala Ratjada and Porto Cristo on the east coast are convenient bases for coastal walks and trips to smaller coves. Canyamel and Capdepera combine the north-east with a landscape of coast, pine trees and rural paths. This allows you to choose your hotel’s location to suit your preferred pace of travel.

When to visit and how to get there

Spring and autumn are particularly suitable for a trip to Mallorca if you enjoy hiking, cycling or sightseeing and want to avoid the intense summer heat. In summer, beach holidays, long evenings and trips along the coast take centre stage. In winter, you can experience the island at a quieter pace; some seasonal services may be limited at this time. Before booking, therefore, check which facilities and restaurants are open during your chosen travel period.

Most visitors arrive via Palma Airport. From there, you can reach the coastal towns and inland areas by hire car, taxi or public transport. A hire car is practical if you want to visit several coves, mountain villages and rural towns. Mallorca can also be reached by ferry from mainland Spain and from other Balearic Islands.

Mallorcan cuisine and evenings for two

The island’s cuisine is based on regional ingredients and Mediterranean preparation methods. Typical specialities include pa amb oli, sobrassada, tumbet, vegetable dishes, fish and seafood. At markets, you will find locally produced fruit, vegetables, cheese and baked goods; in the harbour towns, fish dishes often feature on the menus. Mallorcan wines from different growing regions across the island are a good match.

For an evening together, you can choose a restaurant in Palma, dine along the promenade or stop at a smaller coastal town. If wellness is part of your travel plans, you will find more wellness hotels for adults. For a shared break with a particular focus on time together, the romantic hotels for couples category is also a great option.

Other nearby islands

If you would like to combine Mallorca with a second island, adults-only hotels in Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera are possible additions. Ibiza combines coastal towns with nightlife and peaceful landscapes, Menorca is known for its coves and nature, while Formentera is particularly famous for its beaches and small paths. This allows you to plan your trip around your preferred mix of beach time, scenery and island culture.
